It's been a while, I know. Since I've been not posting here, a lot has been going on in my life, including (but not limited to) really getting into a sport called roller derby. Here's a collection of photos from an event I went to earlier this year called Anarchy In The UK, hosted by the London Rollergirls. I'm not really keeping up with this, am I? Doh.

Well, here's another one for you. Mum brought this amarillis in from the greenhouse last week and I had to get out my new macro lens to have a go. Only took a couple of shots, as I was in a rush, but this one came out very sharply on the middle stamen. Then I threw in what was going to be a colour tint, but I liked the starkness of the white so much that I kept it pretty much as it was, just retaining a small bit of green and yellow. I actually let the camera flash and thought I might regret it, but I rather like this one.

I was in Cork yesterday and saw this amusing piece of graffiti. Perhaps a reference to the still missing Madeleine McCann, but it made me giggle. The writing is scarily similar to my own!

Another door! Or rather, the lock of a door. The carving on this door in Exeter Cathedral is so lovely, I had to have a close-up!

Been playing around with Picasa today, mostly with its effects. Here's my go at saturating one of my flower pictures. I'm sure I should start looking at getting some sort of proper image manipulation software, shame it's so expensive (and I'd rather have a macro lens first!).

This cheeky-looking cow lived in the field behind our house last summer. The farmer keeps them in the barn over the winter and every year I'm never sure if the same ones come out of the barn or not. I don't think they're dairy cows, I'll put it that way.

Along with doors, my other photographic passion is flowers and plants, especially light through leaves and, well, colourful flowers too.

I'm saving up some money to get myself a macro lens, which would make these sorts of photos a lot clearer and even more close-up, but in the meantime I cope with my 18-55.

This is the view to the South by the pier at Saltburn-by-the-Sea in North Yorkshire. I'm having a mental block and can't remember the name of the thing, it's not Kettleness Point, but I can't for the life of me remember if it has a name or not! So it'll just have to be the cliff at Saltburn for now, sorry.

I don't think anyone lives behind this door, but that it leads to offices. It's at a place called Audley End, which is one of those big country houses run by English Heritage, and it's in the old stables / servants quarters bit. Which means shop / cafe bit nowadays.

I have this thing about taking photos of doors. I don't know exactly why, but I do. Maybe I like to wonder what's behind them, and how does the door reflect the people who live there. I hope that one day I'll have a front door that reflects who I am. For now I'm content to take photos of everyone else's.
